Social Media Manager

Responsible for developing and leading creative and highly measurable social media campaigns to positively impact our clients’ brands. Lead strategy development across all social channels, and provide best-practice consulting to external clients and internal Brand and Practice Managers. Actively develop new business and grow the Social team, both within existing accounts and through independent acquisition of new clients.


  • Define and lead the agency’s social media strategy, working with Brand Managers to develop campaigns and present new ideas for client businesses, ensuring that recommendations and decisions are consistent with clients’ overall business objectives and strategies
  • Lead development and implementation of agency-wide social media standards, policies, rules of engagement, strategic social media and digital initiatives, new campaign ideas, proposals and presentations
  • Assist in the development of new and existing business relationships and opportunities through community outreach, professional organizations, social engagements, and business networking
  • Manage initial and ongoing client relationships to build/strengthen social media marketing strategies
  • Represent the agency as Subject Matter Expert for social media strategy and industry best-practices as lead presenter at new and prospective client meetings and industry events
  • Define key performance indicators and implement measurement, analytics, and reporting methods to gauge success
  • Mentor and provide training to brand management and social media teams on best practices for creating, managing, monitoring, and developing content for social networks
  • Monitor the effectiveness of social media campaigns and strategy, making adjustments to consistently deliver expected results and client satisfaction
  • Proactively manage the Social Media budget to meet or exceed revenue, profit and billable hours targets
  • Recognize, monitor and analyze social media trends and their impact on clients’ brands
  • Provide creative and innovative ideas, approaches and solutions
  • Develop and execute best-practice analytics strategy
  • Provide specific deliverables such as weekly reports, strategies, and creative briefs


  • BA or higher in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
  • 5+ years marketing or public relations experience
  • Demonstrated experience and a passion for the social technology universe (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Foursquare, Flickr, blogs, Wikis, RSS, social bookmarking, discussion forums and community software)
  • 2+ years experience with web, email and social media management tools (HootSuite, Sprout Social, Sprinklr, Radian6, Insights, Google Analytics, Webtrends, Campaign Monitor, Constant Contact, MailChimp), using them to clearly analyze and assess the effectiveness of SEO/SEM, email and social media campaigns
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead and facilitate consultative client conversations and influence buying behavior
  • Knowledge of graphic design best practices and principles
  • Strong familiarity with online marketing best practices
  • Highly organized, critical thinker with demonstrated ability to prioritize, self-start, and handle a wide variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Previous experience with online branding and development/implementation of media planning and strategies
  • Able to maintain flexible schedule to facilitate after-hours attendance at industry and community events for the purpose of building relationships
  • Aptitude to develop and maintain strong working relationships, both internally and externally
  • Well-groomed, professional and/or progressive appearance
  • Prior agency experience strongly preferred

Desired competencies:

  • Proactively offer actionable recommendations to maximize website rankings and increase clients’ brand visibility
  • Build clients’ search engine volume and efficiency forecasts, initiating tests (keyword bids, ad copy, landing pages) to improve key metrics (click, search, convert), making recommendations on keyword selection
  • Manage clients’ optimization strategy, including link-building and content development (working with the Brand Management team)
  • Manage the implementation of all SEO recommendations, tying in social marketing and content strategies to Facebook, discussion boards, blogs, and other user-generated content initiatives
  • Manage relationships with SEM/SEO partners
  • 4+ years online marketing experience, with 2+ years SEO/SEM experience
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Solid understanding of ethical search engine optimization techniques
